Dear Sunland Parents,
We will be hosting the Halloween Parade on Friday, October 31, 2025, at about 8:25 a.m.
The following outlines the District's policy regarding Halloween activities, allowing students to participate in an enjoyable, positive, and controlled event while promoting safety for all.
Keep the following guidelines in mind when selecting a costume to use at school for this fun event. Here they are -
-
Costumes shall not be demeaning to any person or group based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or to any individual staff or student at the school
-
Costumes must comply with the dress code restriction against images that are “vulgar, sexually suggestive, discriminatory, obscene, libelous, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent content such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia” or cause a significant disruption or distraction to the school program
-
No weapons or replica weapons are to be brought to school
-
The mask may not completely obscure the student's identity. However, masks may be worn during the parade, provided that safety is not hindered
-
No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard. Costumes may not impair a student’s vision or movement (e.g., ability to climb stairs)
-
Sneakers or other flat-soled shoes must be worn by participants for their safety and protection
-
Students who wish to be excused from participating in this event due to religious beliefs or personal reasons will be accommodated without penalty or bias. If this applies to your child, please let your teacher know in advance
-
Students should wear their costumes to school so that the parade can begin on time at 8:25 a.m.
-
Students should wear their everyday clothing under their costumes so that they can change quickly and be comfortable the remainder of the day. There is no assistance for students to change.
-
For safety reasons, all parents must enter through the marquee gate and vacate the premises as soon as the event ends
-
Students who need to leave must be officially checked out by their parents through the main office
All students and parents must adhere to these policies to participate in the Halloween Parade. Thank you.
