Second grade is truly a special place to grow and learn. After 35 wonderful years teaching with Los Angeles Unified School District, I can honestly say that my passion for education is stronger than ever. Each year brings new energy, new personalities, and new opportunities to inspire young minds. At this age, students are building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, but they are also developing confidence, independence, and curiosity about the world around them.
Outside of the classroom, I am a lover of ballroom dancing, salsa music, a good burger, all things fabulously sparkly, and the color yellow. Above all, I am the proud mother of three: a CPA, an opera star, and a fellow teacher—our very own Miss Paz, who also teaches second grade here at Sunland!
At Sunland Elementary School, we are proud to provide an enriching and supportive environment where every child can thrive. Our school offers a wide range of engaging activities that encourage creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and personal growth. From hands-on learning experiences to school-wide events that build community, we strive to make learning meaningful and joyful.
I absolutely love watching my students discover their strengths and realize their potential. Seeing their excitement when something “clicks” or when they accomplish a goal reminds me why I chose this profession. Second grade is more than just a classroom—it’s a foundation for lifelong learning and success.
